Over 90 killed by herdsmen in Benue after mass burial, Monitoring Group claims
This claims comes admist the military debunking the allegation, touting the success of the armed forces since the commencement of the exercise in the state. Team leader of the group Solomon Adodo, who made the call while addressing newsmen in Makurdi on Wednesday, stated that after monitoring the Exercise Ayem Akpatuma in Benue, IHRMG’s preliminary report showed that Fulani herdsmen were still engaged in killings, torching houses, looting and ethnic cleansing across the state. “The team noticed that killings have continued unabated since the mass burial on the 11th of January, 2018,” the group reports. “ From our findings, over 90 people have silently been killed in parts of Benue State since January 11.” Adodo noted that in spite of the launch of the Military Exercise in the state, attacks on communities by the herdsmen have increased between January and March.
