Team leader of the group Solomon Adodo, who made the call while addressing newsmen in Makurdi on Wednesday, stated that after monitoring the Exercise Ayem Akpatuma in Benue, IHRMG’s preliminary report showed that Fulani herdsmen were still engaged in killings, torching houses, looting and ethnic cleansing across the state. “The team noticed that killings have continued unabated since the mass burial on the 11th of January, 2018,” the group reports. “ From our findings, over 90 people have silently been killed in parts of Benue State since January 11.” Adodo noted that in spite of the launch of the Military Exercise in the state, attacks on communities by the herdsmen have increased between January and March. He called on the military to reassess its exercise in the state as well as help enforce its anti open grazing law....

The Northern Leaders and Stakeholders Assembly (NLSA) has inaugurated five standing committees to strategise on a peaceful conduct of the 2019 elections, restructuring and security in the North. NLSA’s Chairman, Alhaji Tanko Yakasai, who performed the inauguration on Wednesday in Abuja, said that NLSA was a political but non-partisan organisation. Yakasai, who is also the Chairman, NLSA’s Steering Committee, listed the sub-committees as Security, Political, Northern unity, Elections and Restructuring. Northern leaders had in a meeting co-convened by Dr. Bello Mohammed, former Minister of Defence, Sen. Ibrahim Mantu, former Deputy Senate President and Sen. Paul Wampana, on Feb. 10, discussed on prevailing challenges in the North. The meeting, which was convened under the name Northern Elders and Stakeholders’ Conversation, set up five committees while the name of the body was afterwards, changed to NLSA. The son of former heavyweight champion Evander Holyfield faces a one-game suspension from Georgia's football team after his arrest on misdemeanor marijuana charges. An online booking report from the Clarke County Jail shows sophomore running back Elijah Holyfield was charged early Monday with possession of marijuana of less than an ounce and possession and use of drug related objects, He was arrested by university police and released on bond less than an hour later. A team spokesman says coach Kirby Smart is aware of the arrest. Under Georgia's drug and alcohol policy, Holyfield would be suspended one game for a first violation. Georgia opens against Appalachian State on Sept. 2. Holyfield rushed for 29 yards on six carries as a freshman and will contest for playing time at one of the deepest positions on the team. Nick Chubb and Sony Michel are Georgia's top running backs.

US rapper Eminem is suing New Zealand’s ruling National Party for breach of copyright, claiming the song they used during their 2014 election campaign bears a striking resemblance to his 2002 hit Lose Yourself. The award-winning hit, which featured in the movie   8 Mile , was played for a judge and group of lawyers in a Wellington courtroom on Monday, as the legal battle between the rapper and the National Party got underway. Eminem’s publisher, Eight-Mile Style, is suing the party for alleged breach of copyright.
